Seat belt bill passes the House

You’ve heard the term “Click it or ticket” before. Soon, that could apply to everyone in the car.

On the House floor Monday, representatives voted 88-29 to pass Senate Bill 2724, which would require every passenger in the car to buckle up.

A strike-all amendment was added on the floor that specified that the seat belt would be required for all passengers of a vehicle carrying 15 or fewer people.

The child restraint laws would remain the same.

News Mississippi will continue to follow this bill through the legislative process.
