Secretary of Defense Seat Won’t Be Filled By Former Governor Mabus

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Former Mississippi Governor Ray Mabus is no longer a name in the Secretary of Defense nomination.

When Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel resigned last week, political analysts began to eye former Mississippi Governor Ray Mabus for the seat. Mabus however, is not the name on the placard now.

Fox News reports that President Obama has chosen former Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to take the Pentagon’s top spot. All that’s left now is for the nomination to pass through the Senate.

Carter will make the fourth Secretary of Defense since President Obama took office.
