COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss.- Seven inmates escaped the Covington County Jail Sunday night.

One inmate was captured quickly within five miles of the jail after the escape. Four were captured Monday morning in Houma, Louisiana.

Jerricus Hawthorn and James Chase Morgan remain at large. The men are considered dangerous.

James Chase Morgan was in jail, charged with simple assault on a police officer and Jerricus Hawthorn was charged with burglary and three counts of petty larceny.

Covington County Sheriff Terry Holbrook told WDAM, deputies have worked through the night to locate the escapees and have called in the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force for assistance.

Police were scheduled to begin moving inmates to the new $3.5 million law complex on Highway 84, just west of Collins this morning at 8 a.m. Officials believe the group of inmates took this opportunity to flee before being transported to the new facility.
