Severe storms kick off the work week

The weather is likely to take a stormy turn today with severe weather slated for this afternoon.

From Greenwood down to Natchez, over to Columbus down to Hattiesburg, you’re likely to see storms that forecasters say could bring 60mph and frequent lightning.. the timeline stretches through the later afternoon, kicking up around lunch and lasting through the early evening hours.
Temperature wise it’ll seem a little cooler than it has lately, with the upper 80’s and lower 90’s across the state. Overnight temps dropping into the 70’s.
Tuesday some pop up storms are still likely.. North Mississippi seeing temps in the lower 90’s with lows in the 70’s. Much of the same in Central Mississippi, 90’s for highs for a cloudy Tuesday, lows dropping into the 70’s. A little cooler in South Mississippi with highs in the 80’s and chances of storms lasting through Tuesday afternoon.
