State Auditor Shad White has officially qualified to run for a full four-year term as Mississippi’s State Auditor. In a video posted on social media, White signed the qualifying papers and later said in a statement that he plans to continue to be aggressive in finding fraud and embezzlement.

“As your State Auditor, I have reenergized our investigations division with a new director, audited my own office, and made the office more transparent by putting all our contracts and RFPs online,” White said. “In the new year, we’ll do an extensive study of the Department of Transportation and will continue to be aggressive in rooting out embezzlement and fraud. To keep pushing these reforms forward, I’m excited to jump into the 2019 race and ask voters for four years in the job.”

Governor Bryant appointed White to the position last year after Stacey Pickering stepped down to lead the state’s Veterans Affairs Board.
