Shopping Local Online, A Luxury Not Offered at All Mississippi Businesses

JACKSON, Miss. – Shopping online may seem more appealing than wading through crowds at stores, but it can be a problem if you still want to shop local.

A quick google search for your favorite local store will usually turn up a Facebook site or a website featuring basic information about the store and the products it offers, but occasionally you will come across the local Mississippi business that does offer online shipping just like amazon.com.

One local store in Hattiesburg that does offer online shopping is Marie’s Boutique in Hattiesburg. April Bullock is owner of the store and says they created the website to offer their customers the same service that was offered larger competition. She also says they have shipped as far as Alaska since opening the website. Similar services are offered through Ridgeland’s Libby Story who will also ship their clothes online.

Other stores that offer online shipping include T-Bones Café in Hattiesburg, the Caramel Factory in Batesville, and the Indianola Pecan House.

For some businesses like Lott’s Furniture in McComb Manager Ryan Temple says they do not have online shipping so they can avoid being “just another catalog site.” He says they prefer the one-on-one, customer/sales representative experience, but said online shipping may be something they consider in the future.
