Shot and Killed While Trying to Call 911: 94-Year-Old Woman Dies Sunday in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss.–Shot and killed in Meridian about 1 a.m. Sunday, a 94-year-old woman, who may have been trying to call 911 when it happened. Police said they were dispatched to the woman’s house when someone dialed emergency and hung up.

Coroner Clayton Cobbler told WTOK TV that the woman was shot twice. Police had not given out her name as of Sunday night.

The victim’s family told the TV station that the woman had lived in the house for more than 60 years and the crook or crooks may have gotten in through the garage. The front door was open wide when police got there.

The woman’s body is at the state crime lab for an autopsy set for Monday. If you know who did it or have any other clues, call Meridian Police or Crimestoppers.
