Southern Miss Baseball Player ‘Critical but Stable’ Following Head Injury

HATTIESBURG, Miss– Southern Miss senior baseball player Michael Gilbert is in stable but critical condition after taking a head injury this morning during a conditioning session. 

USM senior baseballer Michael Gilbert was taken to Forrest General this morning after suffering a head injury. A statement from the university says that Gilbert has since been transported to Jackson for more treatment. Gilbert is in critical but stable condition.

”Michael has been under great care with doctors at Forrest General, and we know that will be the case at UMC as well. He is in our prayers,” said Southern Miss Director of Athletics Bill McGillis.

Gilbert is a native of Saucier, Miss. No word yet on what exactly happened.
