USM Head coach Scott Berry elaborated on his decision to schedule the Golden Eagles for the first game in the tournament. “My job is to give our team the best chance to win a regional tournament. Obviously, that first game gives you the most recovery time win or lose.” Berry reflected on previous tournaments that saw the Golden Eagles playing into the early morning, then waking up to play again only a few hours later.

Berry continued, “It’s my decision. Everybody says it was a t.v. decision, but it was MY decision. I’m wearing it. I feel like it’s the right thing for our program. Trust me.”
