A special election is happening today to take over the seat formerly held by Representative Robert Huddleston of Sumner. Four candidates are scheduled to succeed the former legislator who served in the House since 1996.

District 30 encompasses the Mississippi Delta and covers parts of Bolivar, Quitman, Sunflower, and Tallahatchie Counties.

The candidates are Blake Ferretti, William McClellan, Tracey Rosebud and Lester Williams. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.  If a runoff is needed, it will be scheduled for May 29.

If anyone has trouble finding their polling place, the Secretary of State is reminding people that they can use the polling locator on their website if they are looking for their correct precinct.
