The Mississippi State Board of Education met today to discuss the Jackson Public School district and whether or not the district is in an extreme state of emergency.

After two hours of deliberation, the board voted in favor of taking over JPS.

The state board created a resolution which will be signed and notarized then sent to Governor Phil Bryant where they will ask him to sign a declaration stating that JPS is in a state of extreme emergency.
