Student found with firearm at Madison Central High School

MADISON, Miss.- A 15-year-old male student at Madison Central High School was detained after police received reports he brought a gun to school.

Information was given to the Madison County Police Department that a student was in possession of a handgun in his backpack. When officials investigated the situation they, in fac,t found a .22 caliber Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol.

The gun was not loaded and there was no ammunition in his possession.

The student was taken out of school and during the initial investigation by police they found that no threats had been made towards anyone by the student.

He has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Minor on School Property and was taken to the Yazoo County Detention Center.

He is awaiting his appearance in the Madison County Youth Court.
