Sunshine & pollen usher in Mississippi springtime

No matter what you’re doing this spring, News Mississippi wants to be a part of it! Tweet us pictures of your springtime fun @news_ms.

Spring doesn’t officially start until March 20 on the calendar, but in Mississippi it’s felt like spring for weeks now.

Springtime means festivals, fishing, baseball, crawfish and turkey hunting in the Magnolia state. Unfortunately, it also means POLLEN. Allergic reactions to pollen are what cause many to have swollen, itchy eyes, throat and noses. Know your local pollen count and try to stay indoors on days when its high.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is predicting an exciting spring fishing season, likewise with the spring turkey hunt (March 15 – May 1).
