The Tale of Two Stories: Black Attacker, Terrible Boyfriend

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. – An Ohio man has been arrested in Mississippi on charges he beat and choked his girlfriend and used a knife to force her to lie to police.

Investigators said Wednesday, the woman called 911 claiming an unknown black male assaulted her and was chased away by her boyfriend, Austin Hurless.  But neighbors called the police department and said they witnessed Hurless dragging the woman out of her home by her hair.

Police on the scene searched for the black male, but didn’t find him.  The woman was taken to the hospital; and that’s when investigators said she told them Hurless beat and choked her.  She also said he held her at knife-point and forced her to call 911 and lie about being assaulted by a black man.

Hurless was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence and filing a false police report.  The woman was still in the hospital Wednesday night, but is expected to recover.
