FULTON, Miss. — An Itawamba County tax collector candidate has been arrested for identity theft.

Matthew Perry, of Fulton, is accused of getting multiple credit cards under the name of his former girlfriend, Brittni Smith and running up more than $7,000 in debt since 2013.  Perry was booked in jail this week and released after posting a $5,000 bond.
There’s been no indication if he will continue to be a candidate for election.
