Tea Party Says They Have Evidence of Crossover Voting in Mississippi GOP Runoff

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Tea Party says it has found evidence of nearly 800 people who voted in the Democratic Primary June 3rd and unlawfully crossed over to vote again in Tuesday’s Republican Party primary.

Laura Van Overshelde said Thursday the group is in the early phase of its investigation and do expect to find even more irregularities.  However, Hinds County GOP Chairman Pete Perry said the Tea Party was cooking up the numbers.  He said there were some precincts where poll workers marked the wrong column, but made the corrections.  Perry maintains those numbers should not be included in the Tea Party’s count.

If enough irregularities are discovered, McDaniel could challenge his close defeat to US Senator Thad Cochran.
