ABERDEEN, Miss.–Sunday was a day for the community to come together to remember Teresa Ewing, even though many who gathered did not know her. It was a community effort to find her that eventually led to the discovery of her body in the woods.

The 25-year-old had been missing since Aug. 25 and search parties had been helping top try and find her, with several promising leads. It was Friday that she was finally found.

The community prayer vigil for Ewing and her family Sunday included hundreds. Barbara Hastings was there. She created a Facebook page for Ewing after hearing about her on the news and meeting her mother.

Hastings told WCBI that she was sorry that Ewing could not be brought home safe.

“We’re just hoping that they know somebody cared about her and kept going,” she said.

Police are questioning several people but have made no arrests.
