Texting and Driving Bill Signed into Law Tuesday

Jackson, Miss.- Texting and driving will be against the law in Mississippi beginning this summer. House Bill 389 was signed into law by Governor Phil Bryant Tuesday prohibiting texting, emailing and getting on social media sites while driving.

The first time you’re caught on your phone while behind the wheel will result in a $25 fine. The second offense will mean a $100 fine.

The law will go into effect July first.
