While many are counting down the hours and the minutes into the New Year, some may be trying to figure out their New Year’s resolutions. Rebecca Turner, registered Dietitian and host of Good Things says that the old adage, ‘New Year, New You’ has a good sound, but added that having such a broad New Year’s resolution can feel overwhelming.

“To be honest, we don’t really need a whole “new” version of ourselves,” Turner said. “Focusing on a few good habits, we can be healthier and a bit happier in 2018.”

Turner has a simple list of three simple things that can be put into practice immediately to help stay healthy in the new year.

Stay Hydrated
• Drink half your body weight in water ounces, daily.
• Switch to unsweetened beverages.
• Limit caffeine after lunch.

Fiber First
• Foods rich in fiber keep you fuller longer.
• Build meals with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, first.
• Look for products with 5 grams of fiber or more.

Create a Vision
• Look beyond the scale to define health.
• What does healthy mean to you?
• Create a visual to keep you focused
