Toddler’s death ruled as drowning

A toddler was found dead early Monday morning just off of highway 26 west and authorities are now saying they believe they know the cause of death.

According to the George County Sheriff’s office, the coroner’s investigation has indicated that the child died as a result of drowning.

The three-year-old boy was found near a pond at his home by a George County deputy.

Officials said they have had no indication to suspect foul play. They aren’t sure yet how the child got out, the department of human services is wrapping up their investigation.
