The Mississippi Transportation Commission recently awarded a construction contract for a maintenance project in Central Mississippi.

“The nature of this project shows the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) continued shift from new construction and capacity upgrades to system preservation and maintenance,” said Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall, chair, Mississippi Transportation Commission. “This projects will address critical safety needs on the statewide transportation system.”

The awarded contract is for a pavement rehabilitation project.

  • An approximately $2.5 million construction contract was awarded to Falcon Contracting Company, Inc., of Columbus, for the mill and overlay of approximately 10 miles of State Route 388 from U.S. Highway 45 Alternate to Cliftonville in Noxubee County.

MDOT will release additional information regarding timelines and impacts to traffic prior to the start of construction, and will alert the traveling public prior to any changes in traffic.

Highway work zones present new traffic patterns and configurations that may be unfamiliar to some motorists. For information about how to navigate highway work zones safely, visit GoMDOT.com/drivesmartms.
