Trial Starts for Carroll County Deputies in Shooting

HOLMES COUNTY, Miss.–Trial started Monday for two Carroll County deputies charged with multiple crimes from a night in March 2011.

Both John Beck and Curtis Bela Alford were indicted by a grand jury in Holmes County last year for, among other things, shooting into the car of Odessa Williams of Lexington while she was inside.

Breezy News also reports they’ve been charged with holding a man in their police car for three hours without cause.

They both each face one count of aggravated assault, one count of obstruction of justice, one count of conspiracy, one count of kidnapping, and one count of shooting into a vehicle.

Beck and Alford say that night they were acting in self defense.
