Tribal Council Folds on Proposed Casino

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. – The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will not build a new casino in Leake County.

The Tribal Council has voted against the proposed $18.8 million project.  Backed by Tribal Chief Phyliss Anderson, the casino would have created 120 new jobs.  Anderson released a statement saying she was disappointed with the council’s 10-6 vote.
