Two Fatal Shootings in Jackson Within Minutes: Police Say the Shooter May Be Connected to More

JACKSON, MISS– Two shootings happened in Jackson within minutes of each other Thursday night. Now two women are dead.

The first shot was fired at the Shell gas station on Beasley and Watkins, reports WLBT. Moments later, another woman was shot while walking from Drury Inn to Logan’s on County Line. She was in town from Missouri on business.

Reports of a blue mustang led police to Zehulum James. James was picked up at an apartment complex and charged with murder. His car was towed to the crime lab.

The woman shot at the gas station died there. The second woman, from Missouri, was shot in the stomach, and died later at the hospital.

Police do not think this is all James is involved in. Jackson Police say it is possible that James had a part in three other shootings across the metro, that all happened within minutes of each other, including shooting in a city bus, shooting into someone’s home, and shooting into someone’s car. All of these shootings occurred about ten minutes apart, leading up to the shooting at Logan’s just after 6 o’clock.
