U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran’s Aide Arrested for Meth, Date-Rape Drugs

JACKSON, Miss.- One of U.S. Senator Thad Chochran’s aides has been arrested in a drugs-for-sex investigation.

Police said they arrested Fred Pagan Thursday after finding methamphetamine and other drugs in his home.

Investigators said Pagan told them he bought drugs to trade for sex.

A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said agents found more than 100 grams of methamphetamine and more than 2 pounds of a Chinese date-rape drug in Pagan’s home.

Cochran’s office said, “Sen. Cochran is disturbed and deeply saddened by the arrest of his long-time aide, Fred Pagan, and is suspending him of all duties, pending the outcome of the case,” the statement said.

Pagan served as Cochran’s personal assistant and office manager. He made $160,000 per year.

Pagan was indicted by a grand jury on one count of possession with intent to distribute.

His next court date is set for May 14.
