Vehicle Found in Woods Not an Accident, Two Being Held in Pearl River County

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss.–An SUV found in the woods Wednesday ended up starting a murder investigation in Pearl River County. Inside the vehicle was the body of Brandon Penry, Jr. Called in as a wreck, police saw very soon that it was likely no accident.

Penry, who goes by the name “Skateboard” had been shot several times.

Pearl River County and Marion County deputies arrested Gerrod O’Neal Howard, 20, and Chardick Devon Daniel, 20. They were not charged with murder, but rather with tampering with evidence at the crime scene.

Deputies believe the two know a lot about the crime.

Investigators think the murder happened between 11 Tuesday night and 1 Wednesday morning.
