Victory for Team Zander: Little One Heads Home

GULFPORT, MISS– Zander Saucier, just three years old, was beaten nearly to death. But that’s not his whole story.

After suffering major abuse–police say his father beat him–Saucier was rushed to USA Children’s in Mobile. There he was in ICU, on a ventilator, and fed through tubes. His mother reported on the Team Zander Facebook page that when they pulled him out of his medically induced coma, he was crying in  his sleep and having nightmare.

Thursday, Zander still had a tube for breathing, and IVs for nutrients.

On Friday, the breathing tube was gone. Zander was awake and asking for Mommy.

Over the weekend, Zander got to go home with his mom and little brother Knox.

Zander’s story captivated the state, not because of the abuse, but because of an amazing will power by such a small, young boy.

Zander still has a ways to go before full recovery, and his family needs support. Like and follow the Team Zander Facebook page to find out how you can help. There will be a benefit in Zander’s honor on May 14th.
