Violence in the Queen City: Teen Shot and Killed July 4 in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss.–It was an argument at a local parking lot and a 19-year-old man may have gotten in the way of bullets that weren’t meant for him when he was shot and killed Friday night.

While fireworks were going off and people were celebrating all over Mississippi, that victim’s family was grieving. Police had not released his name, but did say they tracked down and arrested Lyndell Pritchard, of Meridian, and charged him with murder.

He was also charged with receiving stolen firearms.

Police weren’t giving out many details about the shooting, but a family member told a reporter with WTOK TV that the victim was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and was shot when the other two were arguing and the shooting started.
