Volkswagen Group of America is coming under scrutiny for faulty fuel injector chips that could fail, creating interruptions in fuel lines that could cause cars to stall.

The recall affects 280,915 model year 2009-2016 Volkswagen CCs, and model year 2006-2010 Passats and Passat Wagons.

Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump control module, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable. Notices informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed in October. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.

Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 20AE.
