North Mississippi waking up to a few scattered showers this morning, but your main concern will be moisture rising from the ground after so many days of rain: sunshine and highs in the lower 90s will combine to create a level of humidity that could prove dangerous as heat indices climb today.

Throughout the central part of the state, your morning will be muggy and warm. Look for scattered thunderstorms to mark your afternoon. Today’s high will breach the 90 degree mark in many areas, adding to the heat stress created by humid conditions.

Across south Mississippi, thunder and rain are more likely today. Highs settling in the lower 90s for areas through the Pine Belt as well as near the Coast. Expect the heat to increase as you approach the weekend.
