Weekly Rundown: Terrorism in Orlando, see something, say something, heat dangers loom over the next several days

JACKSON, MISS– The top stories for News Mississippi this week, all in one place.

The tragedy in Orlando Sunday has left people around the world and right here in Mississippi shaken. Those of the LGBTQ community were especially impacted after Omar Mateen opened fire inside Pulse Nightclub, killing 49 people and hurting over 50 more before being killed by the SWAT team.
As Mateen was identified before by the FBI as someone they had interviewed suspecting terrorist activity, the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security wants to remind you that if you See Something, Say Something. If you hear comments or see suspicious behavior that could be threatening, give the state homeland security office at call at 1-888-4Safe-MS.
Governor Phil Bryant met with presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump this week along with a team of other Governors to discuss Trump’s plans for his campaign as well as his plans for the presidency. Governor Bryant said he feels Donald Trump is not only the man for the job, but also the right pick for Mississippi—citing The Donald’s business saavy.. Governor Bryant says Trump knows the economy, how it works, and how to build jobs, which is something the nation–and Mississippi–desperately needs.
A heatwave is making the hospitality state home for the next several days, with heat advisories lingering through today. News Mississippi conducted a little experiment to see just how hot it can get in the car, and it was found that at the heat of the day, the temp inside the car hit nearly 160 degrees. Check the backseat for pets and kids before you get out, and stay hydrated.
