Widely Reported as a 4-Wheeler Accident, Man Was Actually Hit

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss.–There was a four-wheeler wreck on the Chickasaw side of the Chickasaw/Clay County line just after midnight Sunday, but that’s not what killed 27-year-old Joshua Parker.

It was widely reported in northeast Mississippi that Parker died in a four-wheeler wreck. WTVA in Tupelo is reporting, though, that Parker’s four-wheeler overturned in a ditch along Hwy. 47. Parker then walked to the highway where he was hit by another vehicle there, killing him.

The TV station quoted Coroner Andy Harmon, who said that the four-wheeler wreck is not what killed him and that an accident reconstruction crew from the Miss. Highway Patrol would be putting together exactly what happened.

Parker’s body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
