Woman killed on ATV by train

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss.- A woman was pronounced dead on the scene after being hit by a train when the ATV she was riding got stuck on the tracks.

The 48-year-old woman has yet to be identified, but David Allen Gibson, 55, was driving the ATV when the incident occurred.

The two were riding on the tracks near Highway 198 West and Ernest Pipkins Road around 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon.

The ATV then got stuck on the tracks and a train approached as the two tried to get one of the tires out of the tracks. Gibson was able to get away quick enough, but the woman with him was not. She was killed and pronounced dead on the scene.

Gibson has been charged with DUI causing death and is being held at the George County Regional Jail.
