Wrecks in Mississippi: At Least Two People Dead After Weekend Crashes

LEAKE COUNTY, Miss.–A heart attack or other medical emergency may have been the cause of a wreck where a man died on the Attala and Leake county line Sunday afternoon. Breezynews.com reported Eddie Russel’s truck went off the road and hit a tree.

The wreck happened about 2:30. There were no skid marks and witnesses said that it appeared he did not hit the brakes.

A head-on wreck Sunday in Pearl killed a man who was out riding his Harley with his daughter. Corby Lee Usry, 66, was killed about 2 o’clock when the bike hit a Kia Soul head-on.

Police said the wreck happened on Old Whitfield Rd., and that the 25-year-old daughter was driving the bike.

She had to go to the hospital with serious injuries. There were three people in the SUV, but no one was hurt badly.
