Habitual Offender Sentenced in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. – A repeat offender in Gulfport has been sentenced to ten years behind bars. 

Clifton Wendell King, 40, pleaded guilty this week to possession of cocaine with the intent to sell. King has been arrested numerous times including the distribution of cocaine in 1995, possession of cocaine in 1998 and a federal firearm conviction in 2002.

His most recent run in with the law was in Feburary 2014 when King was found siting in his car weighing cocaine.  Authorities also found multiple weapons and cocaine at his home.

Under Mississippi’s habitual offender law, King won’t be eligible for early release.
