Shooting outside of a Jackson school

JACKSON, Miss.- A young boy was shot several times in front of Rowan Middle School.

Police Chief Lee Vance told WLBT that 14-year-old Ja’Darious Ivy, an eighth-grader, was shot multiple times in front of the school on Ash Street.

Ivy was standing with a young lady on the street when the suspect came up, they exchanged a few words and then shots were fired, hitting Ivy. The suspect then got in a Blue Cheby Impala and left the scene. He was last seen driving down Ash Street.

Ivy was taken to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries.
