28-year-old inmate dies in George County

The George County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) in an investigation into the death of an MDOC inmate that occurred at the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

In the early morning hours of March 28, 2018, 28-year-old MDOC inmate Samuel Ronald Tidwell was transported from the George County regional corrections facility to a local hospital, where he later passed away. The details of Tidwell’s death, including a possible cause of death, have not yet been released and the Sheriff’s Office said that more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Sheriff Keith Havard said the investigation is ongoing and asked that if anyone has information on this or any other crime, that they contact the George County Sheriff’s Office at 601.947.4811.
