New Police Chief for Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss.- Columbus has appointed a new police chief. 

Current Waynesboro Police Chief Oscar Lewis III was named the new chief of the Columbus Police Department. 46-year-old Lewis spent 20 years working for the CPD. He began as a patrolman and worked his way up to and internal affairs investigator and more recently a patrol shift commander.

He left and began working for Waynesboro Police Chief in April of 2014.

He is now returning to CPD as chief. He says his first task will be to restore the relationship between police and the community.
