The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred just before midnight at a Utica nightclub.
One person was killed, and four others were injured in the shooting at the Sugar Shack on Lee Davis Circle. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones says the incident began as an argument or altercation that escalated to violence. Investigators believe the people involved all knew each other, some may be family members.
41-year-old Jason Harris was killed. 53-year-old Michael Brown is in serious condition at UMMC. 48-year-old Anthony Brown is listed in stable condition. 29-year-old Deidre Williams and 48-year-old Lorenzo Cooper were treated and released.
Two suspects have been arrested. Eric Dixon and Joseph Crumb are each facing one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault. Investigators are still interviewing witnesses, and additional arrests are possible.
