Back to the Polls, Special Election Date Set for House

JACKSON, Miss.–Three state representatives were elected mayor and resigned the House this time around and that means you’re heading back to the polls if you live in those districts. Gov. Phil Bryant’s camp announced this week that a special election date of Nov. 5 had been set for districts 5, 55 and 110.

Spokesman Mick Bullock said a run-off date of Nov. 26 had been set in case it was needed. If you have a notion to run for one of the now vacant seats, the qualifying deadline is Oct. 7.

Kelvin Buck was elected mayor of Holly Springs (from District 5); George Flaggs, mayor of Vicksburg (District 55); and Billy Broomfield of Moss Point (District 110).
