House tables bill requiring state flag flown at universities

On Monday the House of Representatives decided to table an amendment that would require Mississippi universities to fly to state flag or lose tax breaks.

The amendment was proposed by Rep. William Shirley and it would require that universities fly the state flag, with the confederate emblem, or risk certain tax breaks from the state.

The amendment was made to SB2954.

This was Rep. Shirley’s argument to Representatives to pass the amendment:

The bill and it’s amendment could be brought back up at any point in the remainder of the session.
