MIRA to announce effort for DACA recipients

The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance (MIRA) along with Mississippi Dreamers will make an announcement regarding their efforts to help DACA recipients renew their work permits and remain enrolled in the program.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has imposed an extremely tight renewal deadline, which will leave some Dreamers behind. As a result, MIRA is reaching out to assist recipients with legal advice and a workshop to guide applicants through the process.

MIRA is a non-profit organization with more than 200 paid members statewide, and 700 affiliates and constituent organizations. The organization seeks to unite all people with a commitment to social justice by educating the non-immigrant community in Mississippi on immigrant issues.

The announcement is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Capitol city.
