A “Despicable Thing”: Fondling Vulnerable Adult Lands Miss. Man in Prison

ITTAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss.–It’s a three-year prison term for 64-year-old Raymond Brown of Ittawamba County after he admitted to taking a vulnerable adult from her care facility and trying to have sex with her at his home.

Brown pleaded guilty in January and was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years, with 12 suspended. He also has to register as a sex offender, pay a $1,000 fine, $100 to the state’s crime victims compensation fund and serve five years probation after he’s released.

Attorney General Jim Hood, whose office helped investigate and prosecute the crime, called what Brown did “a despicable thing”. The main reason, the 42-year-old victim was blind and mentally challenged.

“I hope other perverts contemplating taking advantage of a vulnerable person will see that they will be caught. The outstanding team of investigators in our office will work day and night to catch a predator of our elderly and vulnerable,” said Hood.

Brown told the court when he got the woman home his intention was to have sex with her and he tried to do just that, but couldn’t perform.
