The Adams County Sheriff’s office has arrested 25-year-old Derrick Dehsun Dobbins for felony child abuse. The arrest is a result of an investigation by ASCO and the Department of Humans Services which was launched after a November report detailed abuse of a 4-year old child. The report detailed injuries to the child resulting in multiple scars and bruises.

Dobbins was arrested on Tuesday, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of the child’s mother, Bria Ferguson. Ferguson turned herself in to ACSO deputies at Children’s Protective Services in Natchez on Thursday.

The Adams County Sheriff’s office has confirmed that Dobbins is the mother’s boyfriend. The original report was filed by the father, who lives out of town and was picking the child up when he noticed the bruises.

Both were booked into the Adams County Jail; no bond information has been released at this time.
