AMR offers rides home from New Year’s parties

JACKSON, Miss.- The Mississippi AMR team will be out and about on New Year’s Eve making sure you and yours get home safely.

From 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. they will be offering rides to homes or hotels, not additional parties, for anyone out enjoying the holiday who may have had a few too many drinks.

“What AMR is doing is teaming up with three other organizations to offer free rides home to New Year’s revilers,” said Jim Pollard, Public Affairs Manager for AMR Central Mississippi. “We are going to provide six passenger vans, each capable of transporting 15 people at a time and positioning them in places where they are likely to have patrons.”

The organizations AMR has partnered with include The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, The McCoy House for Sober Living, and the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Assn. The fans will be around the Metro area, Richland, Ridgeland, Clinton and Flowood.

They want to remind people not to drink intoxicated at any point.

“We in the ambulance industry, AMR particularly, see ourselves as having a responsibility with preventing major trauma, such as those that result from drunk driving.”
