Anti-Terrorism Training at Gulfport Seabee Base Could Cause Major Traffic Delays

GULFPORT, Miss.- Gulfport Seabee base is launching an anti-terrorism exercise called Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield Monday.

The Naval Construction Battalion Center says the Solid Curtain portion of the exercise will focus on command, control, and communication between all echelons Navy wide. Citadel Shield emphasizes installation-level training exercises to test the ability of installation security forces during an emergency.

This Friday, Feb. 6, the Gulfport base’s gates will be closed from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Movement on the base will be restricted and nobody will be allowed in or out during that hour.

The training is going to cause some major traffic delays at Pass gate on the afternoon of Feb. 11 and morning of Feb. 12.

Aside from the gas station, all facilities will be closed until 1:30 p.m. or later on Feb. 12, and the clinic will have minimum staffing that day.
