Arrest warrant issued for hit and run suspect

MADISON COUNTY, Miss.- Police have issued an arrest warrant for someone wanted in a hit and run incident on the Natchez Trace Parkway. 

Police are looking for 42-year-old Jason Dwayne Perkins, of Lena, who they believe was the driver of the car involved in the accident.

Amy Biernat, 44, was hit by a white Nissan car while cycling on the Natchez Trace Parkway of the Boyd Site. She was taken to Baptist hospital for several injuries including a broken foot, punctured lung and damage to her ribs.

Police located the vehicle about a mile an a half north of where the accident happened, but no driver could be found.

Perkins is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, failure to give three feet when passing a bicyclist, providing false information and causing a vehicle to crash with a bicyclist.

He also has federal charges against him including outstanding warrants from the Mississippi Department of Corrections on parole violations.

He is a white male with several tattoos covering his arms, chest, and upper legs.
