Bay St. Louis Bar Owner Takes Down Shooting Suspect

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.- A Gulfport man shot a gun into a crowd injuring one person, tried to run, but a nearby bar owner saw the guy and took him down before he could get very far, police said.

Bay St. Louis police said 22-year-old Trey Tillery tried to flee the scene after shooting into the crowd.

Police Chief Mike DeNardo told the Sun Herald Roger Caplinger heard six shots outside the bar and saw a guy that had been shot in the leg or foot. He then saw Tillery try to take off, chased him two blocks and wrestled him to the ground, holding him, until law enforcement was able to arrest him.

Tillery has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
