Bay St. Louis could restrict bars with loud music and late hours

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.- The City Council in Bay St. Louis is considering requests from residents to revise their entertainment district codes and restrictions on businesses.

Many business owners along the coastline are concerned that if these restrictions are made they will be put out of business.

Residents who spoke up were at a workshop Monday hosted by the City Council. They came with complaints about loud music, lights, and operating hours that were too late at venues along the beach downtown and in the Depot District.

Many asked that noise be restricted to 10 p.m., while others wanted businesses to closed their doors by 10 p.m. Some were fine with a midnight cutoff, and a few said 2 a.m. would be reasonable.

A decision has not been made yet on whether restrictions will be put in place or not.
