Big Donations for Down Syndrome Awareness

JACKSON, Miss. – Funds raised from the Running for Lily 3.21 Run Up for Downs have been donated to the Little Lighthouse and the Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society in an effort to raise Down syndrome awareness and provide resources to the families and friends of those living with Down syndrome. Each organization received $6,500. Those checks were handed out Thursday at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in the capital city.

“Running for Lily started right after Lily was born, it was kind of our way of coping with it at first, it was for us to support Lily, but a few weeks went by and it turned into something a lot bigger. We realized we could promote Down syndrome awareness with the actions we were doing,” said, Lily’s father Brent Lape.
